associate software engineer

The Associate Software Engineer will contribute to OpenBet Locator / Casino development efforts, primarily supporting the design and implementation of web applications using Node.js and React.js. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of web technologies and show strong interest in cloud-native development, particularly using AWS tools and services such as Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB.

You will work under the guidance of senior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, QA, and Architects. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is enthusiastic about learning, adopting engineering best practices, and contributing to a high-performing Agile team in a supportive and fast-paced environment.

Key Accountabilities

• Write basic unit tests and participate in code reviews

• Maintain code quality and learn from feedback provided by more senior team members

• Participate in planning sessions and Agile ceremonies

• Learn and contribute to performance, security, and scalability considerations under mentorship

• Build understanding of the overall system architecture over time

Key Responsibilities

• Actively participate in team stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives

• Learn to identify and raise potential issues or areas for improvement

• Understand and implement basic customer requirements with assistance

• Follow coding standards and practices set by the team

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience

Mandatory

Some experience (e.g. internships, projects, or 6–12 months of professional work) using Node.js / React.js

• Strong willingness to learn and pick up new technologies

• Basic understanding of RESTful APIs

• Exposure to relational databases (e.g. SQL)

• Good communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to receive and act on feedback

Preferred

• Exposure to AWS services such as S3, Lambda, or API Gateway (hands-on experience a plus)

• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins), or container tools like Docker

• Any scripting knowledge (e.g. Python, Bash)

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies
