About the job
Optimal on behalf of its client, a leading international marine bunkers and lubricants consulting company serving the global shipping market, is seeking an Accountant to join the Company’s Accounting Department.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the company’s financial records
Process daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments
Perform invoice checking and support the accounting team in ensuring accurate invoicing and proper financial reporting
Manage accounts payable by verifying and processing supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payments
Handle accounts receivable, ensuring timely issuance of invoices and follow-up on outstanding balances
Perform bank and supplier reconciliations
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and accounting records
Support expense monitoring and cost control procedures by ensuring proper allocation and recording of invoices and receipts
Prepare and post journal entries as required
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
3-5 years of relevant working experience in an accounting department
Good knowledge of accounting principles and basic tax regulations
Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel)
Familiarity with accounting software/ERP systems, knowledge of SAP or Epsilon Net will be considered an asset
Excellent command of English language
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
