About the job

As a Senior Software Developer, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering high‑quality software solutions. You will lead the analysis, design, and implementation of new concepts, ensuring they meet technical requirements and standards. You’ll also oversee the seamless integration, deployment, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of these solutions-driving reliability, performance, and long‑term scalability.

 

What your day to day will include:

  • Reviewing business and technical requirements and designing scalable, modular software solutions.

  • Leading the development and refactoring of applications in line with architectural standards and the platform roadmap.

  • Identifying technical debt proactively and driving refactoring or modernization initiatives to enhance maintainability and performance.

  • Ensuring high software quality through code reviews, debugging, troubleshooting, and close collaboration with the QA team.

  • Following best practices and patterns, delivering clean, testable code, and applying Test‑Driven Development (TDD).

  • Monitoring application performance and providing 2nd and/or 3rd‑level maintenance and support to ensure long‑term stability and reliability.

  • Translating business needs into clear technical specifications (SoW) and design artifacts.

  • Responding to ad‑hoc assignments that support evolving business needs, aligned with the scope of the role and your professional capabilities.

  • Staying up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices and proposing improvements that elevate the efficiency and speed of operations.

 

What you’ll bring:

  • BSc in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent STEM

  • MSc in relevant topic is desirable

  • Demonstrated experience as a SW engineer, preferably in all phases of the Software Lifecycle

  • Understanding of Lottery/Gaming/Betting/Casinos, Passive/Scratch systems and business concepts (desirable)

  • Strong experience in enterprise‑level Java/J2EE development, using frameworks and tools such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, JavaEE/JakartaEE, and JUnit.

  • Solid background in relational and non‑relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, MongoDB) and a good understanding of RESTful API design and systems integration with JSON/XML/SOAP.

  • Proficiency in core engineering practices including Git or Subversion, CI/CD pipelines, Agile methodologies, and familiarity with Linux environments.

  • Deep understanding of scalable application design principles and commitment to Clean Code and Clean Architecture for high‑quality, maintainable software.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, debugging and troubleshooting skills for resolving complex technical issues effectively

  • Communicating effectively in Greek and English, with strong written and verbal skills
