To meet current corporate needs, we would like to bring to our team an Environmental Compliance Senior Associate.
We are seeking a highly motivated Environmental Compliance Senior Associate to join the Site Management Department.
The Environmental Compliance Associate will be reporting to the Environmental Compliance Senior Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible to:
Ensure adherence to environmental policies, national and European regulations and Legislation, and to the Environmental requirements throughout the phases of the development, as member of the Environmental Compliance department.
Develop and enforce compliance strategies and foster a culture of environmental responsibility among the projects’ teams.
Manage compliance risks, define and monitor environmental targets and implement the procedures of the Environmental Management System according to ISO14001 international standard.
Oversee implementation of practices and measures for the minimization of environmental impacts and conduct audits to the active worksites and projects in the Ellinikon development program.
Understand the unique and specific risks of working on an active construction site.
Promote environmental practices within the Ellinikon company.
In detail, the Environmental Compliance Senior Associate, amongst others, will have the following responsibilities:
Implement the Employer’s Environmental Management System, according to ISO14001 international standard, update and develop environmental procedures, monitor performance and maintain registers of the respective data.
Oversee the active projects of the Ellinikon development and conduct environmental audits, in the direction of ensuring compliance with the approved Environmental terms, the national Legislation and Regulations, and the Environmental Requirements of the Ellinikon Development.
Monitor, audit and evaluate environmental performance and report to the Management. Communicate effectively with the PMC, the Contractor(s) and the Ellinikon Environmental Compliance Department.
Report any deficiencies that may put the project at risk not meeting the minimum legal Environmental Compliance requirements as well as targets established for the overall construction program as well as individual projects. Register environmental data, issue environmental documentation and report accordingly.
Collaborate with the Contactor(s) on managing environmental issues of the project(s). Indicatively but not restrictively: hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, monitoring of environmental parameters, public nuisances, dewatering and wastewater disposal, materials’ management etc.
You will be a successful candidate for our job opening, if you can identify yourself with the following criteria:
Academic Qualifications:
Education: Diploma in Environmental Engineering or other equivalent engineering diploma.
Certifications: ISO14001 Lead Auditor certification.
Professional Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Environmental Management in large scale construction projects.
Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to enforcing Environmental Compliance policy via observation, reporting, and providing training, as necessary.
Very good knowledge of the environmental Legislation in Greece and best international practices.
Experience in working with multinational teams, third parties and external consultants etc..
On a personal side, the ideal candidate:
Ability to set and monitor environmental KPIs and assess environmental performance.
Ability to integrate environmental compliance issues in projects’ Tenders, Contracts etc..
Stakeholder communication to collaborate with various stakeholders, project teams and community members to address environmental concerns and nuisances.
Ability to work with multiple teams and various projects.
Flexible to navigate changing project requirements while maintaining compliance standards.
An individual who understands how to keep team members focused on the project goals i.e. delivery, quality, health & safety, etc..
Exhibits clear and visible leadership abilities. Good listener with motivation and training skills.
Being committed to ethical practices and bearing a genuine concern for environmental conservation.
