What you'll do
- Perform on-site maintenance, repair and technical support for gas engines in CHP units across Greece
- Execute preventive maintenance, corrective interventions, and emergency repairs per manufacturer specifications
- Diagnose mechanical faults using inspections and technical documentation
- Perform technical measurements and condition assessments to evaluate engine performance
- Carry out inspections and major or minor overhauls following operational standards
- Disassemble, reassemble, and replace critical engine components
- Support installation, commissioning, and alignment of engines, generators, and related systems
- Deliver specialized technical interventions such as cylinder inspections and turbocharger servicing
- Prepare and maintain service reports and technical documentation
- Adhere to health, safety and quality procedures during all operations
Key requirements
- 10+ years' experience
- Experience with internal combustion engine maintenance, including gas or diesel engines above 500 kWe
- Preventive maintenance, corrective interventions, and technical troubleshooting skills
- Mechanical disassembly, reassembly, and precision mechanical adjustments
- Technical measurements, condition assessments, and diagnostics
- Technical documentation, reporting, and computer literacy
- Fluency in English and Greek, ability and willingness to travel frequently
- Strong teamwork, problem-solving mindset, detail orientation, and accountability
- Mechanical Engineering / Engineeringpreferred

Intellectica is recruiting a Senior Field Technician on behalf of its client, a long-established engineering company operating in the field of energy solutions and internal combustion engines. The company represents leading international manufacturers and specializes in the installation, maintenance, and technical support of advanced power generation systems, including natural gas and biogas engines used in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants. Based in Athens, Greece and reporting directly to the Technical/Service Manager, the successful candidate will join a highly skilled technical team and will play a key role in ensuring the reliable operation and performance of critical energy equipment across various industrial sites in Greece.
Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:
Performing on-site maintenance, repair and technical support activities for gas engines operating in CHP units, ensuring their reliable and efficient operation across multiple installations in Greece
Executing preventive maintenance, corrective interventions and emergency repairs in line with manufacturer specifications and service schedules
Diagnosing mechanical faults and identifying root causes using appropriate tools, inspections and technical documentation, providing hands-on troubleshooting and effective corrective actions
Performing technical measurements and condition assessments to evaluate engine performance and support accurate diagnostics and long-term reliability
Carrying out inspections and major or minor overhauls, ensuring compliance with operational standards and manufacturer guidelines
Executing mechanical work including disassembly, reassembly and replacement of critical engine components such as pistons, bearings, cylinder heads and liners
Supporting installation, commissioning and alignment activities for engines, generators and associated systems
Delivering specialized technical interventions such as cylinder inspections, turbocharger servicing and other precision mechanical adjustments
Preparing and maintaining service reports, technical records and documentation related to field activities, ensuring accuracy and traceability of work performed
Adhering strictly to health, safety and quality procedures during all on-site operations
Undertaking any additional tasks as required
Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ideally), or a related engineering field
10–15+ years of professional experience in internal combustion engines
Proven senior-level hands-on experience in field service, maintenance or overhaul activities
Strong experience with gas or diesel engines above 500 kWe, ideally in CHP or power generation environments
Solid knowledge of diagnostics, troubleshooting and manufacturer specifications
Computer literacy for reporting and technical documentation
Fluent in English and Greek
Ability and willingness for frequent travel across Greece
