Intellectica is recruiting an experienced and purpose-driven Head of Fundraising on behalf of its client, a leading non-profit organization committed to creating equal opportunities through knowledge, employment, and personal development. Based in Athens, Greece, the Head of Fundraising will report directly to the CEO and will play a pivotal role in shaping fundraising strategy, leading a mature and structured team, and sustaining and growing a diversified annual funding portfolio, ensuring the organization’s long‑term financial resilience and impact.

 

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

 

  • Defining, owning, and continuously evolving the organization’s fundraising strategy in line with its mission, growth objectives, and strategic plan

  • Ensuring the sustainability and growth of a diversified annual funding portfolio of approximately €4,000,000, maintaining a balanced mix across EU programmes, governmental and institutional funding, CSR partnerships, private foundations, and individual giving

  • Translating strategic priorities into clear annual targets, funding plans, and resource allocation, focusing on high‑impact and high‑probability opportunities

  • Acting as the key strategic partner to the CEO on all fundraising‑related matters

  • Providing leadership and strategic oversight to the fundraising function, managing two senior direct reports and supervising a total team of 16 professionals across distinct sub‑departments

  • Setting clear objectives, monitoring performance, and fostering a collaborative, results‑driven culture within a well‑structured organizational environment

  • Overseeing the identification, assessment, and prioritization of EU, national, and institutional funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities

  • Leading and supervising the full proposal development lifecycle, from strategic positioning and concept design to final submission and consortium coordination

  • Ensuring strong, long‑term relationships with European and national partners, including NGOs, universities, public bodies, corporate partners, and foundations

  • Monitoring policy developments and funding trends to proactively inform funding strategy and positioning

  • Driving the development of individual giving as a new revenue stream, establishing the foundations for campaign‑based giving and relationship‑driven engagement with high‑net‑worth individuals

  • Establishing and maintaining robust systems for pipeline management, performance tracking, and reporting across all funding streams

  • Representing the organisation at relevant national and European networking events, conferences, and partner meetings, as required

  • Providing regular, structured updates to the CEO and Board on fundraising performance, risks, and opportunities

  • Any other task that may be required from time to time

 

 

Professional experience & qualifications of a successful candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Economics, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Social Sciences, Law or a related field

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading teams

  • Proven experience in fundraising or resource mobilization, with a proven track record in securing funding from EU programmes and institutional or foundation donors

  • Hands‑on experience with EU‑funded programmes (e.g. Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, AMIF, CERV or similar)

  • Solid understanding of national funding schemes, institutional donors, CSR partnerships, and private foundations

  • Experience working with proposal management tools, CRM systems, and performance tracking frameworks

  • Fluent in Greek and proficient in English, both written and spoken
