Lead the company’s environmental performance strategy, ensure full regulatory compliance, and drive programs that minimize environmental impacts (climate, air & water emissions, biodiversity, resources/waste), with transparent reporting to Management and stakeholders. The role also has overall responsibility for the operation and oversight of the physico‑chemical Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the communication and implementation of company’s environmental policy and Management’s commitment on environmental issues as well as for the training of the Company's personnel in this specific field.
Ensure end‑to‑end compliance with environmental permits and applicable legislation; coordinate the implementation of recommendations from competent public authorities.
Establish internal regulations and procedures and implement a comprehensive waste management program, in close collaboration with department heads and engineers.
Set up, monitor, and evaluate environmental KPIs and monitoring programs; drive corrective and preventive actions and report results to Management and authorities.
Prepare and submit required environmental studies/permits and reports (e.g., Environmental Impact Assessment, GHG emissions permit, Waste Management Plan, E‑PRTR reporting).
Develop the Environmental Management System (EMS) and ensure its effective operation and certification.
Act as liaison with regulatory/inspection authorities (e.g., Ministry of Environment & Energy, Region of Central Greece); accompany inspectors onsite and recommend procedural changes as needed.
Oversee the Wastewater Treatment Plant operation, ensuring compliance and approved discharge limits; organize sampling/analyses (pH, conductivity, BOD/COD, heavy metals) and maintain complete records (e.g., ΗΜΑ) for authorities and management.
Coordinate preventive maintenance and reliability of critical assets (balancing tanks, aeration/settling/filtration/RO systems), contingency plans, and handling of emergency wastewater (e.g., firefighting water).
Develop and manage the Environmental budget and oversee environmental suppliers/partners.
Qualifications
Degree in Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a Polytechnic School
Postgraduate studies and specialization desirable
Work experience for at least 5 years in a similar position with compliance / system responsibility
Excellent knowledge of Environmental issues
Strong leadership, influencing, negotiation, change management, communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of English
• Knowledge of information systems
Skills
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and leadership abilities to work cross-functionally.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks effectively.
