The Station Manager holds overall responsibility for the operational, financial and people performance of the station, ensuring safe, efficient and customer-focused operations at all times.

The role ensures that all station activities are carried out in accordance with Goldair Handling’s policies, procedures and standards, applicable legislation and airport regulations, while meeting contractual obligations and the expectations of our airline customers.

🎯 Your Mission

As Station Manager, you will take ownership of the station’s overall performance, leading the local team and ensuring the successful delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality ground handling operations.

You will play a key role in strengthening customer and stakeholder relationships, driving operational and financial performance, developing your people and ensuring that Goldair Handling’s values, culture and standards are consistently reflected across all station activities.

🧭 Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Lead, direct and oversee station operations, ensuring that all departments consistently meet or exceed agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs), operational KPIs and customer expectations.

  • Ensure the effective implementation and day-to-day application of SMS, IMS (QMS, FSM, ISM, EVS), Security, Emergency Response, GDPR and Health & Safety requirements within the station.

  • Maintain awareness of applicable European, national and international aviation legislation and regulations and ensure full compliance with relevant requirements, including IATA, ICAO, EU Regulations, National and Local Civil Aviation Regulations, BGHR, LGHR and ECAC standards.

  • Ensure the station maintains 24/7 operational readiness and is appropriately prepared to respond to operational irregularities, emergencies and business continuity requirements.

  • Plan, review and improve station processes and procedures to enhance operational quality, efficiency, productivity and service delivery, within agreed budgets and timelines.

  • Ensure that all employees are appropriately trained, qualified and competent to perform their assigned duties in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.

  • Oversee and coordinate all internal and external station audits, ensuring timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures and actively promote a strong and proactive Safety Culture.

  • Ensure the immediate reporting and appropriate management of hazardous conditions, near misses, incidents and accidents.

  • Maintain a safe, secure and professional working environment across all station activities.

Financial & Business Performance

  • Take ownership of the station’s financial performance, ensuring effective cost management, budget adherence and sustainable profitability.

  • Drive the achievement of operational and financial targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and customer service.

  • Monitor station performance through relevant KPIs, productivity indicators and financial metrics, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing appropriate actions.

  • Ensure effective workforce and resource planning in line with operational requirements, seasonality, productivity targets and budgetary objectives.

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service quality and overall station performance.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the senior point of contact for customer airlines at station level, ensuring effective communication, strong service delivery and timely resolution of operational or commercial matters.

  • Establish and maintain productive and professional relationships with airline customers, airport authorities, regulators, airport stakeholders and the wider airport community.

  • Ensure superior customer service and effective, timely communication regarding operational performance, challenges and pending matters.

  • Proactively manage customer expectations and contribute to strengthening long-term commercial relationships and identifying potential business opportunities.

People Leadership & Development

  • Lead, inspire and develop the station team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, performance and continuous improvement.

  • Manage the development of employees through performance management, training, coaching, talent management and other development initiatives.

  • Ensure effective manpower planning and appropriate staffing levels according to operational requirements and business needs.

  • Identify and develop talent within the station, supporting succession planning, professional development and internal mobility.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive and constructive working environment that supports the attraction, engagement, motivation and retention of employees.

  • Communicate and embed the organisation’s vision, mission, strategic priorities and values across the station.

  • Act as an ambassador of the Corporate Code of Conduct, ensuring that ethical standards, integrity and professional behaviour are demonstrated across the station.

  • Promote an ethical working environment through visible and consistent leadership.

  • Foster a corporate culture that supports sustainability, individual integrity and social responsibility.

  • Delegate responsibilities to the Deputy Station Manager and/or other designated personnel, according to station requirements, while maintaining overall accountability for station performance.

  • Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality and ensure the responsible handling of sensitive information.

  • Undertake any additional duties or responsibilities arising from operational or managerial requirements.

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience within the aviation industry, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory, managerial or team-leading role.

  • Secondary or Technical School Diploma; a University Degree will be considered an advantage.

  • Excellent command of Greek and English, both written and spoken; minimum English level CEFR B2.

  • Excellent computer literacy and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Valid Driving Licence.

  • Strong understanding of airport and ground handling operations, aviation regulations and operational standards.

  • Proven ability to manage complex operations and perform effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
