What you'll do
- Conduct airport wildlife monitoring and control actions
- Coordinate active and passive wildlife control measures, including habitat management
- Record daily wildlife monitoring and control activities in the Bird Control Logbook
- Review, analyze, and verify wildlife hazard management reports
- Implement pyrotechnics and lethal control methods using signal pistols and firearms
- Analyze effectiveness of wildlife control measures and propose improvements
- Submit wildlife strike incidents to Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority
- Ensure supply, safekeeping, and maintenance of wildlife control equipment and consumables
- Monitor wildlife populations and habitat changes around the airport
- Support FG OPS Division on wildlife control and biodiversity conservation on demand
Key requirements
- 3+ years' experience
- Wildlife monitoring and control and Wildlife Hazard Management Program implementation
- Recording and analyzing wildlife strike data and Bird Control Logbook management
- Operating signal pistols and firearms for wildlife control
- Coordination of habitat management and monitoring wildlife populations
- Competency in MS Office and analysis and reporting tools
- Ornithological knowledge and knowledge of environmental and aviation regulatory frameworks
- Fluency in Greek and English
- Driving License class B and shift work availability
- Biology / Forestry / Agriculture / Wildlife Managementpreferred

We are responsible for operating, managing, and upgrading 14 Regional Airports in the most attractive destinations in Greece! If you feel fitting the role’s requirements, apply for the “Wildlife Controller”. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring and controlling hazardous wildlife species at the Thessaloniki Airport to enhance flight safety standards. Furthermore, the job holder will record and analyze the wildlife strike and wildlife monitoring data, and implement an airport’s Wildlife Hazard Management Program.
The role is located in our premises at Thessaloniki (SKG) Airport.
Requirements
What will you be doing?
Conduct the airport wildlife monitoring and control actions at the airport.
Coordinate the active and passive (habitat management) wildlife control measures.
Record daily wildlife monitoring and control activities in the Bird Control Logbook.
Review, analyze, and verify the wildlife hazard management reports submitted by the operations personnel (Bird Control Logbook reports submitted by the Airside Supervisors of the airport).
Implement the pyrotechnics and lethal control methods with the use of signal pistols and firearms.
Analyze the effectiveness of wildlife control measures and propose measures of continuous improvement.
Submit the incidents of the wildlife strikes to the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA).
Ensure the supply, safekeeping, and proper maintenance of wildlife control equipment and consumables.
Monitor wildlife populations and habitat changes in the airport's surrounding area.
Support, occasionally/on demand, the airports' FG OPS Division regarding wildlife control and biodiversity conservation measures.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in biology, forestry, agriculture, or wildlife management.
Previous professional experience of approx. 3-5 years in a relevant position.
Good ornithological knowledge.
A Shooting Skills license would be considered an asset.
Air Traffic Control Radio License would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of national/international environmental and aviation regulatory frameworks would be a plus.
Competent in MS Office, analysis, and reporting tools.
Fluency in Greek and English (verbal and written at a professional corporate level).
Driving License class B.
Available to work in shifts, and travel if needed.
Fulfilled Military Obligations if applicable.
