The Project Manager Engineer is responsible for leading and delivering capital investment projects across the Greece manufacturing network. The role ensures implementation of technical solutions that optimize production performance, food safety, sustainability and asset reliability while delivering projects safely, on time and within budget.

Main Responsibilities:

Project support and execution

  • Plan and execute engineering and capital expenditure (Capex) projects from concept, feasibility and design through installation, commissioning, qualification and handover. 

  • Develop project documentation including scope definitions, User Requirement Specifications (URS), technical specifications, order-of-magnitude estimates, detailed cost estimates, schedules and Capital Appropriation Requests as required. 

  • Lead or support equipment installation, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning and qualification activities. 

  • Ensure project delivery is on time, in full, within approved budget and aligned with engineering standards and business expectations. 

Technical and analytical contribution 

  • Conduct engineering assessments and collect technical data to support feasibility studies, front-end design and investment decisions.

  • Identify and lead process improvement, waste reduction, reliability, OEE improvement, debottlenecking, value creation and energy/decarbonization initiatives that require capital expenditure.

  • Support troubleshooting activities and develop technical solutions for manufacturing, utilities, packaging and site infrastructure challenges.

  • Collaborate with regional/global engineering subject matter experts to ensure alignment with Flora engineering standards and best practices. 

Change management, risk and compliance 

  • Support and apply change management processes for Capex projects, ensuring impacts, risks, mitigations and stakeholder requirements are clearly identified and managed.

  • Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety, Environment, Quality, Food Safety, GMP and Process Safety Management requirements.

  • Maintain a strong safety and compliance culture throughout the full project lifecycle.

  • Ensure proper documentation, capitalization, technical file handover, training and project closure after completion. 

Collaboration and stakeholder management 

  • Work closely with the Factory Heads in Drama and Piraeus and with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Quality, R&D/T&I, Finance, Procurement and HSE teams to ensure project alignment and smooth execution.

  • Coordinate external suppliers, engineering contractors, consultants and equipment vendors during design, tendering, execution and commissioning.

  • Prepare reports, presentations and project updates to support project reviews, decision-making, budget tracking and risk escalation.

  • Collaborate with Procurement in supplier selection, tendering and commercial clarification processes.

Cost, schedule and value delivery 

  • Establish project budgets, track variances and proactively flag risks to capital cash-out, cost, quality, schedule and scope.

  •  Work with Finance and key stakeholders to validate savings, value creation and business case assumptions where applicable.

  • Drive continuous improvement of project delivery, manufacturing performance and asset lifecycle value. 

So, what does it take to be successful in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, preferably Mechanical, Process, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in food manufacturing, Food & Beverage, Dairy, FMCG or a closely related manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in project and process engineering, including execution of small to mid-scale capital investments, is required.

  • Good understanding of food manufacturing processes, utilities, packaging technologies, GMP, food safety and quality standards.

  • Strong project management skills; formal project management certification is an advantage.

  • Ability to develop URS, scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, risk registers, technical documentation and project reports.

  • Experience with supplier management, installation supervision, commissioning, qualification, FAT/SAT and contractor coordination.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional, virtual and multicultural teams.

  • Proficiency in English; Greek fluency is highly desirable. Additional European language skills are an advantage.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with SAP, AutoCAD/MS Project or equivalent engineering/project tools is an advantage.
