senior backend developer (python)

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Backend Developer to join our dynamic team.

In this role, you will design, build, and optimize scalable backend applications, contribute to cross-functional collaboration, and take ownership of core backend architecture while ensuring security, modularity, and performance are at the forefront of all solutions.

The remote option applies only to the Candidates who will be working from any location in Greece.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain reliable backend applications using Python-based frameworks like FastAPI or Django

• Ensure secure architecture to protect customer data and meet compliance standards

• Design performant systems capable of handling large data volumes and high concurrency

• Apply modern design patterns to create modular, extensible, and reusable components

• Collaborate with UI/UX and frontend teams to develop efficient APIs and data models

• Partner with other engineering teams to design and improve database schemas and messaging formats

• Contribute to the overall software architecture by proposing technical improvements

• Provide technical leadership and mentor team members to promote engineering excellence

• Investigate and resolve complex technical challenges impacting backend systems

Requirements

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience developing backend applications with Python frameworks like FastAPI or Django

• Strong foundational knowledge of security design, performance optimization, and scalability

• Background in working with relational, document, and object storage systems like PostgreSQL, Redis, and S3

• Familiarity with messaging brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ and web protocols like WebSockets

• Competency in using metric databases such as VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, or Clickhouse

• Demonstrated ability to take ownership and deliver results in a collaborative environment

• Passion for leadership and the readiness to guide projects and teams toward success

• Fluent English communication skills at a B2+ level

• Understanding of server-sent events and their application in web technologies

• Proficiency in designing resilient systems with message-driven architectures
