What you'll do
- Lead and manage full accounting operations, including ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and close processes
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and statutory filings
- Ensure compliance with Greek tax regulations, IFRS, and internal financial policies
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audits; liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies
- Drive IFRS reporting and compliance; prepare and review IFRS financial statements and disclosures
- Monitor impacts of new/amended IFRS standards on financial reporting
- Collaborate with FP&A and senior management on technical accounting matters
- Lead initiatives to optimize accounting workflows via automation and system enhancements
- Evaluate and implement accounting digital tools and ERP solutions to improve efficiency
- Apply project management to accounting initiatives and process transformation projects
- Define and track project milestones, risks, and deliverables
- Build and develop a high-performing accounting team; foster accountability and continuous improvement
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support strategic decision-making
Key requirements
- 8+ years' experience
- In-depth knowledge of accounting standards including IFRS
- Experience with Greek tax regulations and financial statements preparation
- Strong skills in ERP systems such as S1, Entersoft, SAP
- Expertise in process automation and financial digital tools
- Proficiency in project management and internal/external audits
- Advanced Excel, financial modeling, BI tools familiarity
- Demonstrated team leadership and strong analytical, problem solving abilities

About the job
We are seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Head of Accounting to join our Finance team during an exciting phase of growth and transformation. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in accounting and IFRS, combined with strong organizational skills, a project management mindset, and a passion for process automation and digital finance tools.
This role will initially operate in close collaboration with the existing Accounting leadership, with a structured transition plan toward full ownership of the function..
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations & Compliance
Lead and manage the full spectrum of accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end/year-end close processes.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, management reports, and statutory filings.
Ensure compliance with Greek tax regulations, IFRS, and internal financial policies.
Coordinate and manage internal and external audits; act as primary liaison with auditors and regulatory bodies.
IFRS & Technical Accounting
Own and drive the company's IFRS reporting and compliance framework, including the preparation and review of IFRS financial statements and disclosures.
Monitor and assess the impact of new or amended IFRS standards on the Group's financial reporting.
Collaborate with FP&A and senior management on technical accounting matters, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all reporting.
Process Improvement, Automation & Systems
Lead initiatives to optimize accounting workflows through automation, system enhancements, and best practices.
Evaluate and implement accounting tools, integrations, and digital solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Leverage ERP capabilities to their full potential; drive continuous improvement in the use of financial systems.
Project Management & Organizational Leadership
Apply structured project management methodologies to accounting initiatives, system implementations, and process transformation projects.
Define, track, and report on project milestones, risks, and deliverables within the accounting function.
Build and develop a high-performing accounting team; foster a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Tax, and Executive Management to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; professional certifications (CPA, ACCA) preferred.
Minimum 8–12 years of progressive experience in accounting, including at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership or managerial role.
In-depth knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP), tax regulations, and corporate finance.
Track record of leading accounting transformation or system implementation projects.
Strong command of ERP systems (S1, Entersoft, SAP, or similar), combined with proficiency in automation tools, RPA, and finance digitalization, advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, and familiarity with BI tools..
Exceptional organizational and project management skills — ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with precision.
Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
Excellent leadership, team-building, and communication abilities - ability to mentor, develop, and inspire a team.
