Some of the responsibilities:
Specialized Food Preparation and Quality Control
Oversee kitchen's operations according to established menus and always maintaining the highest quality standards. Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop daily and seasonal Italian restaurant menus, complementing culinary offerings and meeting customer preferences.
Maintain strict quality control standards to ensure consistency, freshness, and flavor excellence. Conduct regular tastings and inspections to uphold the highest standards of quality and presentation.
Monitor inventory levels of Italian restaurant ingredients and supplies, and coordinate with Executive Chef, Sous Chef and suppliers to ensure timely replenishment. Minimize waste and maximize efficiency in ingredient usage.
Training and Mentoring Junior Chefs
Provide guidance and instruction to junior staff to help them hone their skills by teaching them specific techniques.
Mentoring less experienced cooks, helping them refine their skills, grow in their careers, and maintain the high standards of the Italian kitchen.
Health, Safety, and Sanitation Compliance
Enforce strict sanitation and hygiene practices in the kitchen, including equipment maintenance, cleaning schedules, and compliance with health regulations. Implement proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure food safety.
Creativity and Innovation in Specialization
Stay updated on trends in the culinary world, particularly related to the Pizza making or Italian cuisine, and incorporate new ideas and techniques as appropriate.
Attend culinary events, workshops, and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
Useful to have:
Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institution.
Thorough knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation regulations, and kitchen procedures.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with a focus on high-volume or fine dining environments.
In-depth knowledge of various Italian cooking & Pizza making techniques, ingredients, and food presentation.
Excellent knowledge of the English language, a second language will be considered a plus.
Very good knowledge of MS Office and POS (Point of Sales) systems.
