What you'll do
- Open and serve wine and champagne bottles
- Answer guest questions about wine origins, vintages, and styles
- Update and maintain wine lists and the MICROS system
- Pair and recommend wines to complement menu items
- Attend wine tastings and build vendor relationships
- Request new wines and products
- Design and implement wine promotions and incentive programs
- Monitor and replenish wine cellar, equipment, and glassware inventory
- Train and educate servers and bartenders
- Conduct staff wine tastings
- Control costs through purchasing, inventory, and cost-control measures
- Follow state and local laws for responsible alcohol service
Key requirements
- 2+ years' experience
- Sommelier expertise, wine knowledge, and wine tasting
- Wine pairing and wine service
- Wine list management and MICROS system
- Inventory control, cost control, and purchasing
- Staff training and wine promotions
- Responsible alcohol service and English language
- Any Field / Business Administrationpreferred
