What you'll do
- Issue, open, and serve wine and champagne bottles

About the job
The Assistant Head Sommelier is responsible for overseeing our wine menu and providing recommendations on the best pairings, with the aim of contributing to unforgettable guest experiences whilst ensuring exceptional service and customer satisfaction.
Some of the responsibilities you will be entrusted with:
Issues, opens, and serves wine/champagne bottles.
Answers guest questions or concerns regarding the origin, vintage, and style of various wines.
Updates and maintains wine list and MICROS system.
Pairs and suggests wines that will best complement menu items.
Attends wine tastings and develops relationships with vendors.
Requests new wines and products.
Creates and updates wine lists.
Designs and implements wine promotions and incentive programs.
Monitors and replenishes inventory of wine cellar, equipment, and glassware
Trains and educates server and bartender staff
Conducts staff wine tastings
Controls costs through effective purchasing decisions, inventory control and cost control measure
Follows all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly.
Requirements
Useful to have:
Degree, MBA or master’s degree in a related field will be considered an asset.
Certification as a Sommelier is beneficial (WSET or equivalent).
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sommelier in a high-end à la carte restaurant.
Knowledge of local vineyards and wineries.
Excellent knowledge of the English language, a second or third language will be considered a plus.
