What you'll do
- Program, configure, maintain, and optimize industrial automation systems
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve automation and electrical issues in production and packaging lines
- Modify and improve existing PLC programs
- Participate in automation system upgrades and migration projects such as Siemens S5 to S7
- Develop, configure, and maintain HMI systems like Siemens WinCC or equivalent
- Monitor and support SCADA systems
- Commission new equipment and automation systems
- Install and integrate new production equipment
- Read, understand, and apply electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams
- Support and maintain automation control panels
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve process efficiency
- Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of automation systems
Key requirements
- Siemens PLCs (S5, S7) and PLC programming (Ladder, FBD, STL)
- TIA Portal
- HMI systems (Siemens WinCC or equivalent) and SCADA systems
- Industrial communication networks including Profibus, Profinet, Modbus
- Drives, inverters, servo motors, and automation control panels
- Electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics
- Troubleshooting automation and electrical issues

Demo SA, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in injectable facilities, is currently seeking for a Process Automation Engineer, who will be responsible for implementing business processes on a workflow platform to improve operational efficiency. This position is based in Tripoli.
Main duties and Responsibilities
Programming, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of industrial automation systems
Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving automation and electrical issues in production and packaging lines
Modification and improvement of existing PLC programs
Participation in automation system upgrades and migration projects (e.g. Siemens S5 to S7)
Development, configuration, and maintenance of HMI systems (Siemens WinCC or equivalent)
Monitoring and support of SCADA systems
Commissioning of new equipment and automation systems
Installation and integration of new production equipment
Reading, understanding, and applying electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams
Support and maintenance of automation control panels
Collaboration with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve process efficiency
Ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of automation systems
Requirements
Degree in Automation or Electrical Engineering (TEI / AEI) with good command of technical English
Strong experience with Siemens PLCs (S5, S7), TIA Portal, and PLC programming (Ladder, FBD, STL), including troubleshooting, modifications, and migration projects (e.g. S5 to S7)
Experience with HMI (Siemens WinCC or equivalent) and knowledge of SCADA systems
Knowledge of industrial communication networks (Profibus, Profinet, Modbus)
Hands-on experience with drives/inverters, servo motors, industrial sensors, and automation control panels
Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, with experience in production and packaging lines
Strong problem-solving, organizational skills and structured technical thinking
