They are looking for a talented Backend Software Engineer to join our new Engineering team based in Greece, to develop Lottery software products using a microservices architecture and be part of a distributed team inside a large international organization of the Gaming Industry.

The person in this role will work in a cross-functional scrum team, building, testing and releasing new backend services using modern technologies, integrating through a CI pipeline, and applying solid engineering practices to meet challenging requirements.

Their backend technology stack

• They use Java 11 and Quarkus Framework to build our backend microservices
• They write unit and integration tests as part of our development process
• They depend heavily in CI/CD pipelines using GitLab
• They use Oracle database and Hazelcast for caching
• They use Rest APIs and Messaging to communicate with clients and other services
• They use JIRA and Scrum to organize our development lifecycle
• They perform code reviews to ensure code quality and knowledge sharing
• They host our services in OpenShift Kubernetes Platform

Daily tasks

• Participate in scrum ceremonies
• Contribute in architectural decisions
• Design, build and maintain web applications
• Write unit and integration tests
• Release and deploy often in several environments
• Monitor the performance of our services
• Share your knowledge and learn from or mentor your teammates
• Collaborate in backlog refinement and technical documentation
• Present the team’s work in regular review meetings to key stakeholders
• Work in a multinational environment with distributed teams
• Have fun along the way

Requirements

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• Industry experience in software development and strong CS background (3+ years)
• Strong background in Java programming language and frameworks
• Solid experience with relational databases and SQL
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs
• Comfortable with Git
• Excellent communication in English
