About the job
As a Technical Lead - Commercial IoT within Digital & Technology Platforms Services (DTPS) you will architect, lead, and deliver scalable and secure IoT solutions tailored for commercial environments. In this role, you will oversee the design and integration of IoT systems that enhance operational efficiency, enable real-time analytics, and drive data-informed decision-making across various commercial domains.
You will work closely with product managers, hardware engineers, data engineers, cloud architects, and external vendors to build robust solutions that span edge devices, connectivity, cloud platforms, and front-end applications.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead full‑cycle delivery of IoT solutions across commercial equipment (coffee machines, vending, coolers, post‑mixes, etc.).
Architect scalable systems integrating edge devices, gateways, Azure cloud, and applications.
Define technical requirements, use cases, and roadmaps with product stakeholders.
Mentor engineering teams across firmware, backend, cloud, and mobile/web.
Guide hardware/software integration including sensors, controllers, and embedded devices.
Ensure data pipeline accuracy from telemetry to cloud storage and analytics.
Champion security, scalability, and interoperability across the IoT ecosystem.
Maintain technical documentation, perform code reviews, and ensure QA standards.
Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers on solution integrations.
Select and manage communication protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, and HTTPS.
Handle performance optimization, troubleshooting, and deployment support.
Ensure high‑quality vendor deliverables and smooth transition to support.
Identify dependencies across Commercial IoT initiatives.
Act as a senior developer for complex tasks and lead by example.
Collect vendor feedback to drive continuous improvement and delivery maturity.
Automate build and deployment processes to support CI/CD frameworks.
Collaborate with DevOps, Product Managers, and Architects to define specs, refine backlog items, and estimate effort.
ARE THESE YOUR SECRET INGREDIENTS?
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
5+ years in software/firmware/database development, including 2+ years in technical leadership.
Hands-on experience with embedded systems, edge computing, data streaming, and storage.
Knowledge of IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTPS).
Experience with cloud platforms and services.
Strong skills in data processing, SQL, and API integration.
Proficiency in languages like C/C++, .NET, Python, JavaScript, or Node.js.
Understanding of IoT, cloud, and data security best practices.
Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and agile delivery.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership capabilities.
Familiarity with AI/ML for IoT analytics or edge intelligence.
Awareness of compliance frameworks (GDPR, ISO 27001, energy standards).
Background in startup/scale-up or product-driven environments.
