Junior School Class Teacher – Job Description
Job Title: Junior School Class Teacher
Reporting to: Head of Junior School/Headteacher
Role Purpose
The Junior School Class Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning to pupils in the Junior School, in line with the English National Curriculum, the International Primary Curriculum, and the ethos of a British international school. The post holder will promote academic progress, personal development, and well-being, while contributing positively to the wider life of the school.
Teaching and Learning
Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality lessons across the primary curriculum.
Teach the full range of curriculum subjects, ensuring progression, continuity, and challenge.
Create a positive, stimulating, and well-managed classroom environment that promotes effective learning.
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of pupils, including EAL learners and those with additional learning needs.
Assess, record, and report on pupils’ progress.
Maintain high expectations for pupil achievement, effort, behaviour, and presentation of work.
Plan collaboratively with year group and phase colleagues to ensure consistency and progression.
Contribute to curriculum development and review within the Junior School.
Pastoral Care and Wellbeing
Take responsibility for the pastoral care and well-being of pupils.
Promote positive behaviour and relationships in line with school behaviour policies.
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and moral development.
Professional Responsibilities
Participate fully in the wider life of the school, including assemblies, events, duties, and meetings.
Engage in professional development and reflective practice to continually improve teaching.
Contribute to school improvement initiatives and whole-school priorities.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
Liaise with external professionals where appropriate.
Uphold school policies and procedures at all times.
Safeguarding and Conduct
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times.
Follow school safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct, in line with the expectations of a British international school and the school's code of conduct.

The school is a member of the Council of British Independent Schools (COBIS) and its headmaster is a member of the Headmaster’s Conference (HMC).
The school is authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation to offer the IB Diploma programme in Years 12 and 13.
