system engineer (storage & backup)

As a System Engineer in Storage/Backup technologies, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining organization's data storage and backup infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and overseeing storage solutions to ensure data integrity, availability, and optimal performance. Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing and managing backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical business information.

Duties & responsibilities

1. Storage Infrastructure Management:

   • Participate in design, implementation, and management of enterprise-level storage solutions, including Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS)

   • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of storage systems to meet the organization's current and future needs

   • Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate storage solutions into the overall IT infrastructure

2. Backup and Recovery:

   • Participate in development and implementation of backup and recovery strategies to protect critical data and ensure business continuity

   • Regularly test and update backup procedures to ensure data recoverability in case of system failures, disasters, or other incidents

   • Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot issues, and optimize backup processes for efficiency

3. Data Security and Compliance:

   • Implement and enforce security measures to protect stored data from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats

   • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies related to data storage, retention, and protection

4. Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

   • Monitor storage and backup infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize performance

   • Conduct regular capacity planning to anticipate and address storage and backup resource requirements

5. Documentation and Reporting:

   • Maintain comprehensive documentation for storage and backup configurations, procedures, and policies

   • Generate regular reports on storage and backup performance, status, and key metrics for management review

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field

• 3 or more years (3+) of experience as a System Engineer in Backup/Storage technologies or in a similar role 

  Storage : Hitachi, NetApp, HPE

  Backup: Netbackup, Commvault

• Strong knowledge of backup and recovery solutions, including tape libraries, disk-based backup, and cloud-based backup

• Good knowledge of Windows & Linux Operating Servers

• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for data storage and backup

• Experience with storage and backup software and hardware solutions from any of the following vendors

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
