junior backend developer

As a member of the Service Activation Flows Systems DevOps team, the candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software systems and applications under his organizational unit accountability, such as Service Orchestration & Activation systems.

Participating in the development/improvement of software for new services. Participating in the implementation phase, from analysis and functional design through to implementation. Assistance in rollout of software for new features/services. Providing support to the lifecycle management for the software developed by proactively contributing one's own ideas and suggestions for improvements. Being involved in software testing, analysis, and documentation as well as in the installation and configuration of software for new services.

Duties & responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend components, APIs, and services using modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js, etc.).

• Integrate databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Oracle DB) and write efficient, secure queries.

• Support front-end teams by providing well-documented, stable APIs.

• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code under the guidance of senior developers.

• Participate in code reviews and follow version control practices (e.g., Git).

• Debug and resolve bugs or performance issues in existing backend systems.

• Document technical work (API specs, modules, and logic) to support collaboration and future maintenance.

• Monitor and log backend processes, helping ensure system uptime and reliability.

• Contribute to sprints and team meetings, learning Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience (e.g., bootcamp or internship).

• Proficiency in at least one backend language: Python, Java, Node.js, Ruby, or PHP.

• Basic understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP, and web services.

• Experience with relational (SQL) and/or NoSQL databases.

• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows (GitHub, GitLab).

• Understanding of data structures and algorithms at a basic level.

• Exposure to testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, PyTest, Mocha) is a plus.

• Knowledge of Docker or containerization basics is a plus.ds-on experience (e.g., bootcamp or internship).

• Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn from mistakes.

• Effective communication skills, especially for documenting work and explaining code.

• Team player, open to feedback and mentoring.

• Ability to adapt to new tools, languages, and workflows as needed.
