What you'll do
- Build and manage database hosting capabilities across on-premises, cloud, and DBaaS environments
- Build database infrastructure platforms with developers and provide guidance and tooling for distributed systems
- Improve, tune, and optimize database platforms based on business needs
- Analyze, diagnose, and resolve efficiency, performance, and scalability issues with cross-functional colleagues
- Design and manage efficient database schemas and secure data through authentication, access control, and encryption
- Implement backup, recovery, high-availability, failover, and replication strategies
- Monitor and fine-tune database performance, apply patches and updates, and automate routine tasks with scripts
- Plan capacity and disaster recovery to support scalability and business continuity
Key requirements
- AWS database services, including Aurora, DynamoDB, and RDS
- PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server administration, including performance optimization
- Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and configuration management with Ansible
- Scalable distributed database infrastructure and high availability, failover, and replication
- Database backup and recovery and database security
- Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting; Linux administration; version control
- Prometheus and Grafana monitoring
