credit approval senior specialist (wholesale credit)

The Wholesale Credit Business Area is currently seeking a Credit Approval Senior Specialist to join the Corporate & Investment Credit team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating complex credit requests of the Bank and Group Companies for the Wholesale Banking business areas, based on relevant regulations and for contributing to the decision-making process.

You should be self-motivated, with critical thinking and problem-solving skills, able to perform in a fast-paced environment.

What you will be doing

• Evaluate credit requests initiated by Wholesale Banking, Corporate & Investment Division of the Bank. 

• Track and evaluate credit requests received until their completion in the credit evaluation cycle in compliance with credit policy and manuals.

• Conduct analysis and confirm the credit risk ratings performed by the relevant business areas for the borrowers under their responsibility.

• Monitor Early Warning Signals, and Non-Financial risks in compliance with relevant policies and directives. 

• Assess the cash flows of prospective borrowers to determine their ability to repay.

• Draft credit recommendations for submission to the Credit Committees by issuing the independent Credit Controls & Opinion.

• Prepare reports in cooperation with other business areas of the Bank for the Supervisory Authorities, the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and other relevant bodies (BRC, RMC, etc.).

• Cooperate with Credit Risk Policies Control, Market Risk Control, Non-Financial Risks Control, and other Risk and Audit business areas, as required:

• for formulation or modification of the credit management rules and procedures.

  • for modifying the collateral assessment rules.

  • for developing and improving the rating and collateral management system.

• Assess early warning signals, forbearance measures, and debt service capacity.

• Monitor credit limit expiry dates and liaise with business areas for the prompt annual review of credit exposures.

What you need to have

• A Bachelor’s degree in Economics Banking, Finance, Business, Mathematics, or in any other quant or risk related discipline.

• A Master’s degree in any of the abovementioned fields would be considered an asset.

• CFA and/or other relevant certification shall be considered a plus.

• At least seven (7) years of related working experience in Banking or Financial Institutions, with focus on corporate / wholesale portfolios.

• Complex problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.

• Attention to detail.

• Focus on teamwork and good time-management skills.

• Proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken).
