OLP Specialist - Immediate Hire
Department: Optimal Learning Program
Reports to: Optimal Learning Program Coordinator
ACS Athens, a student-centered international school, embracing American educational philosophy, principles and values, is seeking to recruit an Optimal Learning Program Specialist. The position reports to the Optimal Learning Program Coordinator.
The job of the Optimal Learning Program Specialist entails coordinating all assigned special education program components and related activities, communicating confidential information to others, and implementing and maintaining standard of services within the ACS Athens established guidelines.
Duties:
- Student Profiles: Write Individual Learning Plans (ILP), Advanced Learning Plans (ALP), and Individual Support Plans (ISP).
- Accommodations: Provide necessary accommodations for assignments, tests, and projects.
- Extension Opportunities: Offer enhancement learning opportunities for high-ability students.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with faculty in content classes and provide specialist support for differentiation; communicate with external therapists. Meet with students and parents to discuss accommodations and observations.
- Meetings: Attend weekly CST meetings and OLP team meetings; Conduct Shadow Teacher Meetings.
- Student Support: Create schedules for students, meet with them and parents regarding ILPs/ ISPs; communicate with external therapists; Create targeted need-based lesson plans.
- Testing Accommodations: Provide testing accommodations per the ILPs, communicate with teachers and OLP Testing Center.
- Training: Presentations to faculty, Train new aides as needed and supervise shadow teachers.
- Documentation: Update OLP lists, review psycho-educational assessment needs, and maintain confidential files; Update Standards and Benchmarks.
- Feedback: Provide feedback to teachers on instruction and student needs; send faculty CST feedback; send Shadow Teachers weekly meeting feedback.
- Classroom Observations: Conduct classroom observations
- Administrative Tasks: Enter grades and comments on Skyward, prepare purchase orders, and develop new forms as needed, Moodle Shell update; Updating blue flags on Skyward for teacher access to ILPs
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
- Other activities: Recess/Lunch duties on campus; Attend weekly (Wednesday) After School faculty meetings; Back to School Night participation;
Skills:
- Strong understanding of differentiation, learning differences, and behavioral/emotional challenges.
- Knowledgeable in special education and child/adolescent psychology.
- Exceptional communication, data analysis, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in using MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education.
- Appropriate certification/licensure in Special Education.
- Native English language speaker.
- Strong knowledge of Gifted Education
- Exceptional communication, data analysis, leadership, and organizational skills;
- Strong technology skills (able to use MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel);
- Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents and colleagues;
- Technology skills (able to use MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel);
- Currently contributing to US Social Security and FICA tax, if US citizen;
- Display commitment to safeguarding and protection of children.
