Based in Athens, Attiki, Greece and reporting directly to the Technical Project Manager, the successful candidate will join a fast-paced engineering team, contributing to the development of scalable WordPress-based platforms, custom web applications, and integrated digital solutions.Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:<ul><li>Design, build, and maintain scalable WordPress-based platforms, including custom themes and plugins, using object-oriented PHP and modern JavaScript (ES6+)</li><li>Create modular ACF field groups and Gutenberg blocks to support flexible content structures and reusable codebases that scale across multiple projects</li><li>Collaborate closely with the UI/UX design team to implement responsive, user-friendly interfaces and interactive elements</li><li>Support design-driven implementations and maintaining visual consistency</li><li>Continuously improve platform performance by refactoring code, applying caching strategies, and ensuring alignment with Core Web Vitals</li><li>Develop and integrate RESTful APIs to enable seamless communication with external services such as CRMs, payment gateways, and newsletter platforms</li><li>Build custom endpoints and support headless or hybrid architecture where needed</li><li>Configure and optimize MySQL databases to support high-traffic environments and complex content structures, applying performance tuning techniques and caching mechanisms to ensure fast and reliable data access</li><li>Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and manage staging environments, ensuring smooth and secure deployments through Git-based workflows</li><li>Perform routine updates and QA testing across WordPress core, themes, and plugins</li><li>Diagnose and resolve bugs in staging and production environments, and support site migrations, backups, and server configurations</li><li>Conduct code reviews, manage merge requests, and track issues efficiently</li><li>Any other task that may be required from time to time</li></ul>Professional experience &amp; qualifications of a successful candidate:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field</li><li>Minimum of 3 years’ experience full-stack development, ideally within content-heavy or high-traffic environments</li><li>Strong proficiency in PHP (OOP) and JavaScript (ES6+)</li><li>Hands-on experience with WordPress development, including custom themes, plugins, ACF, and WP-CLI</li><li>Familiarity with Git-based workflows and build tools (e.g., Gulp, Webpack, Vite)</li><li>Solid understanding of MySQL, including performance tuning and complex query design</li><li>Experience with SCSS/SASS and frontend frameworks is considered a strong plus</li><li>Fluency in both English and Greek, written and verbal</li></ul>Core competencies of a successful candidate:<ul><li>Strong problem-solving and system optimization capabilities</li><li>Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams</li><li>High attention to detail and commitment to code quality</li><li>Proactive approach to innovation and architectural improvement</li><li>Continuous engagement with emerging technologies and industry trends</li><li>Ownership of deliverables and accountability in project execution</li></ul>The company offers:<ul><li>Hybrid or remote work option</li><li>Collaborate with high-profile clients across diverse industries</li><li>Join a collaborative, innovation-driven team in a growing PaaS environment</li><li>Professional development opportunities in the evolving AI landscape</li></ul>
